Especially if your pet is suffering, euthanasia might be the best option to free them from any chronic pain they are experiencing, due to aging, injury or a medical condition. Before your pet is euthanized, our veterinary team will walk through the procedure so you’re aware of all the options to support your pet and family during this time. You’re can decide whether or not you’d like to be present during the procedure, where it should take place and how your pet’s remains should be taken care of. During the procedure, we give your pet a strong sedative, followed by an IV injection with medication that instantaneously stops their heart, breathing and brain activity. This medication works quickly, only taking a few seconds.
After the procedure, paw impressions can be made of your pet. Pet Heaven Crematorium and Funeral Chapel can either communally or privately cremate your pet, depending on whether or not you’d like their ashes. We want to emphasise how different the grieving process is for everyone. Some people take a shorter or longer time to recover, depending on how they’re able to process and cope with their emotions.
