Dr. Miguel Moncayo was born in Colombia. His father wanted to become a veterinarian but did not have the opportunity to pursue that career path. From him, Dr. Moncayo learned a love for animals, science, and community service. In 1989, he followed his heart to Manitoba. He obtained a Bachelor of Science from Brandon University in 1992 and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon in 1997. After graduation he moved with his wife Gwen to Strathmore. Dr. Moncayo’s goal is to have his patients leave the clinic happier and healthier than when they came in. It is also a personal goal of his to have his clients leave with their questions answered and their concerns addressed. In his spare time, Dr. Moncayo enjoys spending time with his wife of 26 years, Gwen, their three sons Dion, Tomas, and Mateo, as well as their lab cross Bear and their three cats Beyonce, Catniss, and Spencer. Dr. Moncayo’s mantra is “treat every patient as your own pet and every client as your only client.”
